GayBFF ("we", "us") helps LGBTQ+ people make real friends. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. GayBFF is for friendship — not dating or hookups. You must be 18 or older to use it.
• Account: your phone number (used to sign in and verify you), and, if you join a waitlist, your name and email. • Profile: your first name, photos, pronouns, gender identity, age, bio, interests, and your answers to our friend-fit questions. • Identity verification: to keep the community real, we ask you to complete an ID + selfie check through our verification provider, Veriff. Veriff processes that biometric data to confirm your identity; we receive only the pass/fail result, not your ID document or selfie.
• Approximate location: we determine your city and neighborhood to show you nearby people. We never ask you to type an address, and we do not share precise GPS with other members. • Usage: basic activity needed to run the app (e.g., who you have messaged) and device information for security and troubleshooting.
To create your profile, match you with compatible friends nearby, power search and discovery, enable messaging, keep the community safe (verification, blocking, and reports), process subscriptions, and send you service messages such as a waitlist or "your city is live" notification.
Other members see your profile: your first name (never your last name), photos, age, pronouns, gender identity, bio, interests, and question answers. They never see your phone number, email, or exact location.
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run GayBFF, under contract: Supabase (secure hosting and database), Twilio (SMS), Veriff (identity verification), Resend (email), and Apple/Google (app distribution, payments, and push notifications). We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our members.
We keep your information while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account; this removes your profile, photos, messages, and matches. Some records may be retained in anonymized form where required for legal, safety, or accounting reasons.
We protect your data with encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level security so members can only access what they are permitted to. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to safeguard your information.
You can access and edit your profile in the app, and delete your account at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your data; contact us to exercise them.
GayBFF is strictly for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
We may update this policy; we will revise the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
